Besan Laddu/gram flour dessert
Indian dessert usually served during festive times. Besan ke Laddu is made using gram flour or roasted besan with some ghee in a kadhai or (a wok). It gets its unique flavor, taste and aroma with different ingredients including ghee, roasted gram flour mixed with sugar. Finally, shaped into tight round ball like structure.
Ingredients
- ¼ cup ghee / clarified butter
- 1 cup besan /gram flour
- ½ cup powdered sugar / tagaar
- ¼ tsp cardamom powder
- cashews optional
Instructions
- In a heavy bottomed nonstick pan heat ghee.
- As the ghee melts, add besan.
- Stir continuously, on low flame, making sure the ghee is well combined with besan for 10-15 minutes.
- Breaking the lumps in between.
- Keep stirring till the besan turns aromatic and change color to golden brown.
- Take off the flame and transfer the paste to a bowl.
- Let the cooked besan to cool completely.
- Add powdered sugar, cardamom powder and broken cashews.
- Mix well making sure everything is combined well.
- Take a tbsp of mixture and prepare ladoo.
- Also, garnish with cashew/almond (as per choice).
- Decorate and serve besan ladoo or store in an airtight container.
