Palak paneer is a vegetarian delicacy from the Indian subcontinent, Its Gluten Free, Low carb dish consisting of paneer/ Indian cottage cheese in a thick smooth creamy delicious pureed spinach seasoned with garlic, garam masala, and other spices. Palak paneer is one of the most loved and famous North Indian dishes that goes with naan, roti or rice. Lets make this in about 20 minutes, super quick and delicious.
When cumin seeds start to splutter, add ginger, garlic, and onions. Saute for 2 minutes.
Add tomato. Stir and let it cook for 2 minutes till soft.
Add in the spinach, cook for about 3 minutes till spinach turns soft.
Add cilantro, dried fenugreek leaves and 1/2 tsp of sugar.
Stir and turn off the flame.
Blend the ingredients (be careful as its Hot or wait for a few minutes before blending) with a green chilly to creamy texture, keep aside.
Marinate paneer /cottage cheese cubes with salt and red chilli powder , keep aside.
In the same pan add a tsp of clarified butter/ghee,then add 1 cardamom,cloves,cinnamon powder/stick and dried fenugreek leaves.
Add 1 tsp salt,1/2 tsp red chili powder,1/2 tsp cumin powder.
Add pureed spinach.cook till it changes its colour.
Add fresh cream.cook till oil starts separating.
Add marinated paneer cubes,stir and cook covered for 3-4 minutes.
Add garam masala
Cook covered for 2 min on low flame ,turn the flame off and let it sit for about 5 minutes so that all the flavors get infused before serving.
Palak Paneer is ready, Garnish with grated cottage cheese ,serve with naan, roti or Rice.
Notes
Always note to add a little less salt while making spinach curries,as it has its own salt. You can check the salt and add it anytime later if required.
